Pantheacon 2011: BOOK ROOMS NOW: (408) 453-4000

Mar. 1st, 2010 | 09:39 am
posted by: lwood in pantheacon

I have just called the Doubletree San Jose and reserved my rooms for NEXT YEAR's Pantheacon. All the computers have done their little dances, and you--YES YOU--can reserve your room RIGHT NOW and have it be part of the Pantheacon room bloc.

Room rates are $93 for non-pool-view, $103 for pool view, per night, for one to four adults.

This is the main con hotel, the one that always sells out months and months before the convention. Do not delay--reserve yours TODAY!

The dates for next year's Pantheacon are 18-21 February, 2011. Be sure to mention that you're with the con for the special room rate when you call.

Call the hotel directly: (408) 453-4000.

Feedback forms?

Someone on staff suggested I complete a feedback form. I ran out on Monday without finding one, and I can't find one on line. The user ID I set up for the pcon forums on the webpage is ded. Any clues about where I could find a form so I can tell Glenn how much I enjoyed the con in writing?

Just making some public appreciation...

This was my fourth PantheaCon, both as an attendee and a presenter, and I just wanted to take a few moments to give a huge round of thanks to everyone involved in making this thing happen. I know that it's more common to hear complaints, because people don't often think to speak up when things are going smoothly.

Cut, but not because I don't careCollapse )

Those are the ones who stand out the most right now; there's a plethora of individuals and groups and so forth that I could thank profusely, and I could go on and on and on. Needless to say, I'm grateful to everyone who helps to make PCon happen every year; it's by far one of my absolute favorite events ever.

Lost my hat

Feb. 17th, 2010 | 09:14 pm
posted by: erynn999 in pantheacon

Sometime on Monday I lost my hat at the con. It's an old black Greek fisherman's cap with a red satin lining and a feather tucked into the left side of the cord that wraps over the bill. I checked with con ops to see if it was in lost & found before I left but it hadn't been turned in at that point. It had not been turned in to the hotel on Monday night. I've had the hat for over 30 years and would really love to have it back. If anyone has seen it or knows what happened to it, I would happily pay postage to have it returned to me.

Please let me know if you might have picked it up as a lost item looking for its owner.

Thank you!

Hello everyone - I was informed today by our Event Manager that the room block for 2011 is already open. Get your reservations NOW! Especially if you are with a group that wants to have a room in the party area and have an open hospitality/party room! You will need to have an existing reservation for us to transfer to ...the party floors. Trust me, it makes my job SO much easier!

My road trip adventure

Feb. 11th, 2010 | 06:16 pm

I should have been in Berkeley tonight.

Last night I got stranded in Ashland, OR when my car broke down. We got the part that I was told I needed (the alternator, after I'd had a new battery put in to replace the 8-year-old one that died). It was expensive but I got a loan for it. When they put that in, they found that the AC compressor was also shot. They're getting a rebuilt one sent down from Portland for me and I should be on my way by early afternoon tomorrow. This is another expense that I can't really afford, but which has to be dealt with if I don't want to spend the rest of my life in Ashland.

Anyway, I won't be to the con until late-ish on Friday, but this won't affect my presentation schedule; my first presentation is Saturday afternoon.

I'm okay, I'm at a really nice little hostel in Ashland with the lovely couple who run the place. I'm the only guest here tonight and I'm curled up in front of the fireplace all warm and snug while it's raining outside. I have privacy, dinner, and wifi access, so I'm pretty happy, all things considered.

I'm very thankful that I wasn't stranded in the Siskiyou pass. I didn't have to be towed very far, and I didn't have to wait long for the truck last night. Friends down in the Bay Area are doing what they can to help out.

I'll be there tomorrow and am very much looking forward to seeing everyone!

I hope everybody else's transit is much less fraught than my own. Blessings to everyone.
